40th & Broadway

Taken during the evening rush, next to the building where I work. At the left, a portion of 1411 Broadway, which, in 1967 replaced the neo-Renaissance Metropolitan Opera, is visible. This International Style building was designed by Irwin S. Chanin for the World Apparel Center. Looking west on 40th Street, you can see the faint outline of The New York Times building, a 52-story glass and steel construction designed by Renzo Piano, currently rising on 8th Avenue across the street from the Port Authority.
