Valle de los Caidos
This is where Franco is buried. It is a monument near El Escorial that was erected by Franco in honor of those who died during the Spanish Civil War. Its cross, seen here, is absurdly large; reportedly it is the tallest in the world. The whole complex remains fairly controversial. The basilica underneath the cross is larger than St. Peter's, and it was built by unpaid prisoners, many of whom died in the construction.
